Welcome back!

Welcome back to Quintrell downs preschool. We hope you have all enjoyed the summer break. All the staff here have loved hearing all the exciting adventures the children have had!
We are also lucky to welcome our new children to the setting. They have settled extremely well and seem to be enjoying themselves here at Quintrell downs preschool.
We are planning an exciting junk modelling workshop for parents and carers to attend. This will involve spending quality time with your children, having fun and getting messy! In order for this to take place, we ask all family members to start collecting recyclable 'junk' such as cereal boxes and milk bottles. More details will be posted soon.
Make sure you check the notice board also for important dates and events.
If you are looking at schools for your child to attend next September, there is also a link on the home page for your enrolment forms. If you have any worries or questions regarding your child's transition to primary school please do not hesitate to come and see one of the members of staff.
We are looking forward to another fun filled year at preschool!

Dates for your diary

As we are drawing nearer to the end of the summer term, we have a busy few weeks. Please take note of the key dates and look out for any news on the board in the hall or updates here on the blog.
So far we have:
Monday 16th June: Big Toddle (parents to meet at the preschool at 11:30am, children can come in fancy dress)
Friday 27th June: Train Trip to Par (timings and information to be confirmed)
Monday 7th July: Sports Day (parents and children to arrive at 10am)
Monday 14th July: Beach Trip (weather permitting, timings and information to be confirmed)
Monday 21st July: End of Term Trip to Lappa Valley (timings and information to be confirmed)
Wednesday 23rd July: End of Term Party (children to be in party wear, parents of the children leaving us to arrive at 12:00 noon)

More information of these events will be posted shortly and written on the preschool notice board.

AGM notice

We are holding our AGM on Monday 19th May at 7:30pm at Quintrell Downs Table Table.
Please come along and get involved, we are looking for new committee members, a new treasurer, as well as your ideas!

Preschool closed on Thursday 22nd May

Our preschool will be unfortunately closed for the day of Thursday 22nd May due to the village hall being used as a polling station. We are sorry if this causes any inconvenience.

Tadpoles for our pond.

If any of you find any tadpoles in your gardens or near to your homes, we would appreciate it if you could relocate some to our pond, as the children enjoy looking at them turn into frogs.

Easter Concert

The Easter concert will be held on the last day of term, Thursday 3rd April. Can all parents and children arrive at 10am, with Easter hats! After the concert, the children will have an Easter egg hunt and party food. We ask that all parents please bring a small plate of food. Thank you.

Easter craft workshop

On Thursday 27th March we will be holding an Easter craft workshop. Please arrive at 11:30am and together, with the children, we will create some Easter crafts. We hope you can make it! We would like to also take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Easter, term will start back on Wednesday 23rd April.

Teddy Bear Picnic

On Monday 10th February, we are having a teddy bears picnic! Parents can join us at 11:45am and we ask you to bring a packed lunch for your child and their bear! If you are unable to attend, send a packed lunch in during drop off, along with your child's favourite bear!

We have some sad news...

We are very sad to announce that Mari will be leaving us at February half term.
Due to our low numbers of children this school year, we have made the decision not to replace her with a new member of staff. This is subject to change on whether our numbers improve or circumstances change.
We wish Mari all the best in her new venture and even though we are loosing her, Mari has kindly offered to be on our supply bank, so we may be seeing her face in the setting again!

Christmas is on its way!

On Thursday 19th December, the last day of term, we will be holding our Christmas concert and party. The children are to arrive with parents and family members at 10am, in fancy dress if they would like to, (Christmas theme.) we also ask that each child could bring a plate of food for the party, and any raffle prices would be appreciated. Father Christmas will also be arriving at the pre- school at 11:30, so be sure to stick around for it.

The spring term will begin on the 6th January 2014!
On behind all the staff and committee, we would like to wish all the children and their families a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Parent Christmas songs morning

As our junk modelling workshop was so successful, Quintrell Downs Preschool would like to invite parents and carers to join us on Monday 2nd December for christmas singing and music workshop, where together we will learn and practise the songs for our christmas carol concert. Come along and join us with a cup of tea and mince pie for some festive fun, where you will get the chance to learn our songs to practise with your child at home. Please let a member of staff know you can make it as soon as possible.

Table top sale

We would like to thank all who came to our table top sale, your support has allowed te preschool to raise £105 towards some ICT equipment for the children. We still have more fundraising to do and further events will be posted soon.

Nearly new toys table top sale

We are looking forward to hosting a nearly new toys table top sale on Saturday 9th November. It will be held at Quintrell Downs Village Hall at 10AM- 1PM.
if you would like to have a table the cost is £5.

Please come along and support us as we work to raise money for new ICT equipment for the preschool, including a tablet!!!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to a new school year with Quintrell Downs Preschool.
We hope you have had a lovely summer.
We are happy to welcome some new faces to our setting and want to say a big well done to everyone for settling in so well.
We look forward to the term ahead with some fun topics and activities planned.

Music with Music man Chris

We have been very lucky to have a special visitor every Friday this term!
Chris is our Music Man and comes for 1 hour every week to play games and activities with the children to get them moving, playing instruments and singing. We are having a great time playing African drum, dancing to music from around the world, and making tunes with hand bells. The children always look forward to their Friday's with Chris!

Lets Party!

We are coming to the end of the school year. We have had a lovely time, learning about various topics such as Pirates, Music and Movement, Growing plants, The Sea and Holidays.
We have 13 children moving on to 'Big' schools or new settings, wish we would like to say a proper goodbye and good luck too. We will be holding our final farewell party on Wednesday 24th July. this is a chance for your children to dress up, have party food and games and allow the staff to say goodbye and good luck in the farewell presentation. We would like to invite the parents to the presentation at 12 noon, your chance to get a photo and memories of their time with us here at Quintrell Downs Preschool. More details of this day will be on the News Board shortly.

End of Year Trip

To celebrate a lovely year and to say goodbye to those of the children, who will be leaving us to go to 'big' school, we are planning an end of year trip. This will be on Monday 22nd July. The venue and timings will be confirmed later this month. We are deciding between Dairyland, Lappa Valley or Springfields. We are all looking forward to this visit.

Train trip

We will be holding our annual train trip on Monday 8th July. The Children are really excited to see the countryside and travel on the train.
We will be leaving Quintrell Downs Station at 10:19AM, so we would like to meet at the Pre-school at 10:00AM. We will be stopping at Par Station and will walk to the park and have a picnic and a play, before returning on the 11:42AM train back.
Please remember to bring a small picnic snack for your child and suitable clothing, depending on the weather, we will still be going in the rain.
We look forward to what is usually a fun trip out.

Sports Day

We would like to say a big WELL DONE to all of the children that took part in our sports day. Thank you to all of the children's families for coming to support and cheer them on from the side lines, they had a lovely day and we will to continue the excitement of exercising to allow the children to keep a healthy lifestyle!

Christmas is here

Our children have been working very hard practising our christmas songs and making decorations to make our preschool look nice and festive.
Our christmas celebrations kick off at 10am on Thursday the 20th.
To Arrive at 10am,

Home time 11:45

We would like to wish all the children and their families a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year and look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 7th January
